'53 Buick Roadmaster Skylark Convertible Restomod

Created to celebrate Buick’s 50th anniversary, the 1953 Roadmaster Skylark joined the Oldsmobile 98 Fiesta and Cadillac Series 62 Eldorado as top-of-the-line, limited production specialty convertibles. The 1,690 Sklylarks were handmade in many respects with only the stampings for the hood, trunk lid, and a portion of the convertible tub shared with the Roadmaster and Super convertibles.

There are lots of things planned for this restomod. It was bought as shown in the pictures below...

and although impressive at first glance, there are alignment problems and other discrepancies to be addressed during this construction:

Body/Paint:
Body is off of the frame and sandblasting is completed.  Now that we know what we are working with, we will be building a floor as part of this construction.

Schwartz Performance crafted the custom frame that can accommodate large wheels and upgraded suspension components. Suspension components will be removed so that the framework can be painted.

 

All decorative trim pieces have been cataloged and sent to be re-plated.
